One More Month Until St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day has always held a special meaning for me. Not just because I am a Celtic American musician, but because I was born on St. Patrick's Day. However, it wasn't until I started playing Celtic music that I really began to appreciate the power of the day.

Yes, for some, it is all about the drunkenness. That is a shame. For me, it's about reconnecting with my Scots-Irish heritage.

Every year, I get the opportunity to share my music with people who are Irish for a day. Sure, they may just want to hear "Danny Boy" ad nauseum, and there's nothing wrong with that IMHO. If it brings them joy, that's good enough for me. Though it didn't stop me from rewriting the song about cats for my Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers CD.

Nevertheless, I am pleased to be able to offer music as guiding light for fans of St. Patrick's Day. And I will continue to write and record albums of St. Patrick's Day music and Irish drinking songs for as long as people will listen.
